Regardless of opinion, the fact that this genre of music is becoming a force to be reckoned with cannot be dismissed, hence our compilation of music to watch.Īs you read, note that music is subjective and anyone else might have a name or two that they think should be added to this list. Plus, with the accessibility that SoundCloud offers to musicians, a thousand and one rappers seem to pop up every other day, and because of that, this list won’t be the same for years to come. However, this list has been compiled based on influence, success, and popularity at the time of writing. While many mumble rappers have achieved huge success due to its growing popularity, the style is generally not accepted by old school boom BAP rappers who have built their reputation based on the content/lyrics of their work. Artists like Joe Budden, J. Which still do but listen to rap a little more.Mumble rap is a subgenre of rap music that is characterized by inconsistent and incomprehensible lyrics. The music gained popularity in 2010 following the influx of such rappers to the online music distribution platform SoundCloud. The platform allowed these artists to bypass music leaders and radio stations to reach its audience, hence the phrase SoundCloud Mumble Rappers. But before I actually started listening to rap I listened to rnb, rock and pop rock like 21 pilots and imagine dragons idk what genre but that’s what I listened to a lot before rap. When I was younger and started listening to rap I listened to Kendrick, Wayne, a bit of drake, a bit of nelly, and my dad played a lot of snoop dogg so I listened to him quite a bit. But all those ogs you named will be the goats of rap. It might be because Tyler, cole, and ski dropped some music this year. I feel like lyrical rap is kinda making a comeback now cause at one point I remember it felt like it was dying for some reason and now it seems like it’s making a comeback idk if it just me. But ur right, rap now has so much dudes who game up releasing this garbage ass music and making money from it like lil pump, lil Xan, carti, and the other obvious ones but those types of rappers are now falling off. We all got our opinions and grew up with different eras man. At the end of the day I think we all have our own opinions and we should all respect them. A lot of people disagree with me but that’s my opinion. When he raps he will have a nice flow and I like his singing too, but trippie fs has quite a bit of songs that mumble so I guess back then he was kinda a mumble rapper but overall I like trippie a lot. But trippie is more of a singer then a rapper. Trippie I kinda see where ur coming from. Dababy I don’t really listen to him as much as I used to I only really listen to some songs from him but he’s definitely not a mumble rapper, he just always has the same flow. I disagree when you say dababy and trippie redd are mumble rappers tho, Pooh I’m not to sure cause I didn’t listen to enough of him, Kodak I agree. Most of the time I’m 60% sound 40% lyrics. Me personally I want good lyrics but I want it to sound good more. Which makes sense, cause that’s what hip hop is about a lot of the time. I see what kind of listener you are with music, you are full into what they are talking about and saying.
